A Lasting Impact
The "High on Sport" project left an indelible mark on the Armenian delegation. Each participant returned home with new insights, strengthened self-confidence, and a deeper appreciation for physical activity and cultural exchange. The experiences shared during this week in Denmark will undoubtedly continue to influence their lives, fostering a commitment to an active, healthy lifestyle and an openness to new experiences and friendships across borders.
Ani Harutyunyan - Participant
Ani Harutyunyan's first experience with an Erasmus+ project was nothing short of fantastic. Initially unsure of what to expect, she quickly found herself immersed in the program, which she described as "revolutionary" for her at this stage of her life. Ani, who typically avoided the rain, found herself unexpectedly enjoying a rainy mountain biking session, a moment she considers a turning point in stepping out of her comfort zone.
The program offered Ani several first-time experiences, including playing frisbee, swimming in a cold lake, and bonding with people from various nations and cultures. She was particularly struck by the quick and deep connections formed among participants, making her feel as if they had known each other for much longer than just a few days. Returning from the project, Ani felt a newfound peace of mind, crediting the program with helping her navigate a difficult emotional period.
In the picturesque landscapes of Denmark, youth from nine different countries, including a vibrant Armenian delegation, gathered for an unforgettable week as part of the "High on Sport" Erasmus+ project. Organized by the Copenhagen Youth Network, this initiative was designed not just as a series of physical activities but as a holistic experience aimed at enhancing mental health, fostering self-confidence, and promoting an active and environmentally friendly lifestyle. The project, grounded in non-formal learning, offered participants the chance to explore new cultures, build friendships, and step far outside their comfort zones through sports and adventure.
Embracing the Journey: Reflections from the Armenian Delegation
Sahak Muradyan - Team Leader
Sahak Muradyan, the leader of the Armenian team, found the "High on Sport" project to be one of the best experiences in his extensive background with international programs. He praised the well-organized agenda and the unique format, which allowed participants to engage in diverse activities daily. "Every day was special," Sahak shared, highlighting how the program's dynamic nature kept everyone excited and involved.
One particularly memorable day for Sahak was July 20th, his birthday, which he celebrated alongside another participant. The organizers, led by Halmat, went above and beyond to create a festive atmosphere with a cake, music, and high spirits. "It was one of my most memorable birthdays," he said, reflecting on the warmth and camaraderie of the group. Sahak also commended the seamless communication with the organizers and the positive energy that permeated the entire event.
Yelena Hakhumyan - Participant
For Yelena Hakhumyan, "High on Sport" was more than just an event—it was a transformative journey. Drawn by the project's adventurous activities like mountain biking, hiking, and lake swimming, Yelena found herself not only physically challenged but deeply impacted by the experience. She recalled the rare sunny days in Denmark, spent outdoors in the midst of forests and lakes, where competitive games allowed the participants to bond and appreciate their cultural differences.
A standout moment for Yelena was the mountain biking adventure in the rain. Despite the challenging weather, the joy and exhilaration she felt were shared by everyone in the group. "We were all muddy, soaked from the rain, yet filled with unexplainable happiness," she said, emphasizing how these activities lifted her spirits and taught her the power of movement and being active. The connections she made with the diverse group of participants were equally impactful, leaving her with a deep sense of gratitude and a renewed focus on mental health and staying active.
